Now Airtel has come up with a special offer in Karnataka for prepaid...
Recharge with Rs.90/- and get 150 minutes of dedicated STD time. I got Rs.225/- talktime on the dedicated account. On every STD call, a charge of Rs.1.50/- is being charged from dedicated account, however, on a whole the calculation turns out to be 60 ps per minute.
I recharged for Rs.90/- and I get 150 minutes of call.
So Rs. 90/150 minutes =0.60 ps/minute.
So why was Rs. 225/- got ?
Actually I should be charged 0.60 ps/minute by the above calculation, but since they are charging Rs.1.50/- per minute for STD... they have given the cost for 150 minutes @ Rs.1.50/- per minute
1.50 * 150 minutes = Rs.225/-
Now some one would wonder why such a complicated calculation is required ?
What I felt is to create the WOW effect !
You first get the feeling of getting 0.60 ps minute call. Then you find you have got Rs.225/- talk time for just Rs.90/-. It seems like a double gain though actually in effect, they both give you just one benefit.
To check this dedicated balance, I used *123*5#
You have just one week validity for this balance.
However, verify with your service provide if you have the above scheme in your area and/or for your connection. I take no responsibility for an irresponsible acts.
Check out if this offer is applicable to you.
Recharge with Rs.77/- and get talk time of Rs.10/-

Airtel to Others (Local and STD) at 60 ps per minute.
Call 14181 to know.
Note: Heard this Offer was there in Karnataka for the festive Season, but you have to verify from your customer care before recharging if it there for you.

The specialty of the new scheme is cost control. One need not pay very high charges for having a basic broadband connection. Just paying Rs.250/- will help user have internet connection at home. This can help one with basic usage of checking emails and reading things online. However, one has to take a bit of care not to download too many video files or images.
One of the most common confusion new users have is regarding what is download limit. Most people think download is charged only when something is specifically downloaded. However, this is not the case. Any time any person uses the internet to browse any website, then actually the content that you see on your browser is because files are downloaded on to your system. In other words, every time you browse any website, you are downloading content. So whether you are just reading news online or reading email, you are downloading files into your computer and it adds into your account usage.
The size of download typically depends on the type of website you are browsing. Plain text requires very less size whereas when image files are downloaded the usage is more. The bigger the size of the image, more is your usage or your download limit will reach faster.
For example, if a person uses his website only for checking email he might not have reached his download at the end of the month. However, a person who uses for both images as well as for browsing reaches faster. The fastest is when a person uses a website like youtube.com where one is downloading videos.
A 2 min video requires nearly 4330 KB whereas as a one page word document uses just around 30 KB.
Now getting back to the topic...
Earlier people who used to take a Rs.250/- connection ended up paying bills like Rs.2000-Rs.10000 !!!! Why ? Because people did not understand what download was... and when the download was reached! Also they were charged very high after the download was reached.
Now after many people suggested, BSNL has made changes which will help normal users understand easily when the download limit is reached. As soon as the download is reached, now a pop-up appears on the screen informing the user that free usage is over. So a wise person can stop using it altogether or use it moderately if he is ready to pay excess. Also SMS alerts on exceeding free usage limit is an added advantage. For example, if your internet connection is being used by children who never intimate you on reach the quota, an SMS to your mobile can help you get control over the situation...

Hey in Bangalore I saw ads which said full talk time on the following denominations....
333, 500, and 1000.
Some even have got full talk time on recharge of 100 as well 200.
As all offers are not applicable for all.... please call up your customer care or ask your dealer before you recharge to know about your offer.
Airtel seems to have introduced a special scheme called Special Five. I would like to tell you what I know about it.... but let me say that this is just what I know about it and you need to call up from your mobile and verify the charges and schemes yourself. I am not responsible for any problems you get into without verifying from the Airtel customer care more about the scheme.
According to what I know, you can choose up to 5 Airtel mobile numbers to call at discounted rates.
As of today the discounted call rates for those numbers are
20p per minute Airtel to Airtel local mobile numbers
50p per minute Airtel to Airtel STD mobile numbers.
You will also need to pay a daily rental for each number. The daily rental differs for different states.
Tamil Nadu (incl. Chennai)- 20p/day/number for local and 50p/day/number for STD.
Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Mumbai, Maharashtra, UP(West), Haryana-50p/day/number for local and 50p/day/number for STD.
Karnataka - 50p/day/number for local and Re.1/day/number for STD.
Andhra Pradesh, North East, Assam, Bihar, Orissa, West Bengal, Kolkata, UP(East), Punjab, Delhi, Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh - Re.1/day/number for local and Re.1/day/number for STD.
A few important points to be noted
Only Airtel mobile numbers are allowed to be added. This means you cannot add any other mobile provider numbers under the discounted scheme. Another point is landline numbers cannot be added, even Airtel landline numbers cannot be added for this special scheme.
You can choose any 5 Airtel numbers meaning there is no restriction on whether those 5 numbers are local or STD. You can have all 5 as Airtel STD numbers or you can have all 5 as local Airtel numbers or you can have a combination of both. It is all left to you as long as they are Airtel mobile number in India.
Every time you change/add a number to the Special Five, you will be charged Rs.5/-. However, you will not be charged if you want to remove a number from the list. Note this charge is separate from the daily rental or call charges.
Prepaid users can change special 5 mobile numbers up to 5 times in a Month(which also counts the 1st time number addition as an instance). The month will begin from the date on which you make the first call.
About this number changing option, I actually could not understand it properly. From what I could understand, if I have added only 1 number in the special 5, then I could change it 5 times, but if I have added all the 5, then I cannot change any of them. This may be implying that in the given month you cannot make discounted calls for more than 5 different numbers.
You cannot get discounted rate while on roaming.
How to Get this thing working !
Call 12141 and follow the recorded instructions.
Actually after calling 12141, you will need to choose option 5 to get to the special menu.
The options available for me then was to press 1 for existing numbers, 2 for adding new number, and 3 for deleting.
Once a number is added, the discounted rate will apply to that number immediately.
Note: The above information is best to my knowledge, but there is always the possibility that my info may turn out wrong as I am not a direct representative of Airtel. So confirm from your Airtel mobile by calling the customer care.
Please give your comments and suggestions about any errors or any other offers.
Every call you make you tend to lose some money..... How?
Every time you make a call, you are not able to fully utilize the pulse that is available to you. Actually you are not using what you are paying for......
Consider you make a local call for 3 minutes 20 seconds from your BSNL landline to another BSNL landline. How many calls are you charged for?
Normally BSNL landline local call to another BSNL landline has a pulse of 3 minutes. So when you talk for 3 minutes 20 seconds.. . you are charged for 2 pulses... . So actually though you talked for 20 seconds on the second pulse, you are charged for 3 minutes of the second pulse.... . So you end up paying for 2 local calls.
Consider another provider who charges 60 ps per minute for a call from one mobile to another mobile. If you make a call for 1 minute 2 seconds.. ... here again you are charged for 2 pulse or 2 minutes. So you end up paying for 2 minutes even though you have used only 1 minute 2 seconds.. ..
Another situation is during call drops.... .. Call drops means a call getting cut due to problem with the network with neither the caller or recipient of the call cutting the call. In many such cases 2 to 5-second multiple calls are made and every time you end up paying for a minute even though you have hardly talked for a second.
Calls during roaming.. .. During roaming when you just want to say just a sentence and cut the call, you are paying for the time you have not talked. Worse is the case when you have to pay for wrong numbers while on roaming. Though you just say wrong number... you end up paying for the whole minute... ....
All these problems are solved by a new mobile provider. .... Tata Docomo... . It is Tata's GSM connection. Here you are charged on a per second basis and not on a per minute basis. So you actually pay only for what you have used.
So if you make a call for 2 minute 1 second, you only pay for 2 minute 1 second and not for 3 minutes.
Consider 2 cases,
1st case where the pulse is 60 paise per minute and
2nd case where pulse is 1 paisa per second.
By calculation, it looks as if you need to pay @60 ps per minute in both cases, but the difference is on a 1 second pulse, you save 1 second to 59 seconds on almost every call. Most of the calls we make are never made for the full pulse of 1 minute. So if you are making about 20 calls in a day you can save a maximum of 59 seconds * 20 calls = 1180 seconds, which is 19.6 minutes or nearly 20 minutes. @60ps/minute it comes to about Rupees 12 per day. In 365 days you save a maximum of Rs. 4380 @ 20 calls per day!
... do you feel 1 second pulse is better than 1 minute pulse.... what do you think?
While the price of everything else is going skywards, the only thing that is going down seems to be the mobile phone tariff.
In the beginning when mobile phone was introduced in India, there was restriction for number of mobile providers in a circle. So to say, each state was allowed only 2 service providers. At that time each call cost around Rs.36/- per minute ! The same charge was for incoming calls.
Now, things have changed. With most restrictions gone, the number of mobile providers seem to be increasing. The number of mobile users crossed those with landline mainly after incoming calls became free. Mobile phone, once considered a privilege of the rich is found even with servants.
The mobile phone providers in Karnataka ....
Reliance CDMA and Tata Virgin, and BSNL CDMA.
GSM providers include Reliance, Tata, BSNL, Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, Idea.
Reliance has been providing good handset bundling on its CDMA sets at a very cheap rate of around Rs.1000/-. Their special tariff cards idea also has been a hit.
Tata GSM called Tata DOCOMO with its 1 second pulse has been superhit in the market. The advantage is that you do not need pay for unused seconds which other providers are charging because of 1 minute pulse.
Competition is so much that Aircel has 25ps per minute calls introduce d.
BSNL offering reduction in telephone bills as a discount for broadband connections.
Airtel has introduce d 20ps per minute pulse for friends and 50ps per second for STD on its Airtel network.
Idea, Airtel, and Vodafone seem to have very similar offers.
In conclusion,
now you have local calls in range of 0.50 ps to 0.20ps per minute.
SMS as low 2 ps to 100s of free ones in a month.
Pulse going down even to 1 second even for STD......
Note: If you have come across any great offers or any mistake in the above tariff... .. do reply.... .
For now let us all cheer.... ...
