While the price of everything else is going skywards, the only thing that is going down seems to be the mobile phone tariff.
In the beginning when mobile phone was introduced in India, there was restriction for number of mobile providers in a circle. So to say, each state was allowed only 2 service providers. At that time each call cost around Rs.36/- per minute ! The same charge was for incoming calls.
Now, things have changed. With most restrictions gone, the number of mobile providers seem to be increasing. The number of mobile users crossed those with landline mainly after incoming calls became free. Mobile phone, once considered a privilege of the rich is found even with servants.
The mobile phone providers in Karnataka ....
Reliance CDMA and Tata Virgin, and BSNL CDMA.
GSM providers include Reliance, Tata, BSNL, Vodafone, Airtel, Aircel, Idea.
Reliance has been providing good handset bundling on its CDMA sets at a very cheap rate of around Rs.1000/-. Their special tariff cards idea also has been a hit.
Tata GSM called Tata DOCOMO with its 1 second pulse has been superhit in the market. The advantage is that you do not need pay for unused seconds which other providers are charging because of 1 minute pulse.
Competition is so much that Aircel has 25ps per minute calls introduce d.
BSNL offering reduction in telephone bills as a discount for broadband connections.
Airtel has introduce d 20ps per minute pulse for friends and 50ps per second for STD on its Airtel network.
Idea, Airtel, and Vodafone seem to have very similar offers.
In conclusion,
now you have local calls in range of 0.50 ps to 0.20ps per minute.
SMS as low 2 ps to 100s of free ones in a month.
Pulse going down even to 1 second even for STD......
Note: If you have come across any great offers or any mistake in the above tariff... .. do reply.... .
For now let us all cheer.... ...
